Springfield Twp. EMS Auxiliary is a nonprofit organization composed of EMS personnel, former EMS personnel, and other concerned members of the community. Springfield Twp. EMS Aux. is a separate entity from Springfield Twp, but raises money and purchases equipment, supplies, and uniforms for Springfield Twp. EMS Personnel. The EMS Aux. is lead by Carol Landis as President, Station 21 Firefighter and former EMT-I Davey Snyder as Vice President, former Station 22 firefighter and EMT and former Trustee Jim Holleran as Secretary, and last but certainly not least Mrs. Becky Mason as our treasurer.
Springfield Twp. EMS is a division of the Springfield Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept. The EMS Division is headed by Karen T. Philibin (EMS Chief, Paramedic). She has an officer staff of Ted Mason (Captain, Paramedic & Firefighter), Michelle Powell (2nd Captain, Paramedic & Firefighter), and Andrea Landis (Lieutenant, Paramedic). Serving under those officers is a roster of 4 Paramedics, 1 EMT-Intermediate, 11 EMT-Basics, and 5 First Responders.
The EMS Division also has 2 Administrative Personnel. Jim Holleran is our liaison to the Billing Department, Andrea Landis is the EMS Office Manager.
Personnel are compensated at a fixed rate for every call that they transport. There wages come from our "soft" billing program. Our billing program allows us to write the co-pay portion of a Springfield Township residents bill, only persuing money from the insurance company. Equipment, supplies, and wages all come from the EMS soft billing program, grants, and from money raised by / donated to the EMS Auxiliary. NO LEVY MONEY IS USED. The STVFD has a 5 year levy to purchase apparatus and every fifth year money is designated from the levy to purchase an ambulance to ensure our residents have a safe and reliable ride to the hospital. In 2001 an ambulance was purchased with levy funds. In 2005 our latest ambulance was purchased with funds generated by EMS Soft Billing. We are currently in the process of purchasing a new unit in 2011. The Division of EMS is ran self sufficiently and receives no money from the General Fund of Springfield Twp.
