Springfield has added CPAP (Continuous/Constant Positive Airway Pressure) to it's ambulances to continue providing top notch care to our patients. CPAP is used for respiratory distress patients that meet certain criteria. The positive pressure it puts on the airway aids the patient in taking a deep breath, and in many cases eliminate the need for more invasive procedures. We have also added the EZ IO.  The EZ IO is used when IV access cannot be obtained, and it is critical to give a medication, it can be given through "IO" access in the bone. The EZ IO replaces the manual IO which was less reliable, and often more painful.
